President Donald Trump shared a message from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Tuesday, in which the European leader praised the president’s actions in Iran as “truly extraordinary” and credited Trump with achieving a major milestone in global defense and diplomacy.
The message was posted by Trump on Truth Social as he traveled aboard Air Force One to attend the NATO summit in the Netherlands. In the message, Rutte applauded Trump for his leadership following successful U.S. airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling the operation “something no one else dared to do.”
“It makes us all safer,” Rutte wrote.
“You are flying into another big success in The Hague this evening. It was not easy, but we've got them all signed onto 5 percent [GDP on Defense]. Donald, you have driven us to a really, really important moment for America and Europe and the world.”

Rutte continued, “You will achieve something NO American President in decades could get done. Europe is going to pay in a BIG way, as they should, and it will be your win. Safe travels, and see you at HIS Majesty's dinner.”
The message came as Trump prepared to meet with European allies following a fragile ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, brokered by the United States.
Trump announced the “complete and total” ceasefire Monday, declaring it would officially conclude the 12-day conflict once all final military actions on both sides had ceased.
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote, “Congratulations to everyone,” and detailed that Iran and Israel had both agreed to wind down their remaining operations, with Iran initiating the ceasefire and Israel following twelve hours later.

“Upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World,” the president stated.
The announcement came hours after U.S. strikes targeted key Iranian nuclear sites, which Trump said neutralized critical components of Iran’s weapons development program.
The operation drew praise from several allies, including Rutte, and coincided with positive movement in financial markets, where oil prices declined and regional tensions showed signs of easing.
However, the ceasefire came under immediate strain. Early Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces accused Iran of violating the agreement by launching missile attacks, prompting Israeli forces to prepare a retaliatory response. Iran denied the missile launches.
In a strongly worded message posted to Truth Social, President Trump ordered Israeli forces to stand down, warning that continued escalation would breach the ceasefire terms. “DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS,” he wrote in all caps.
“IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION.”
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump reiterated his frustration with both nations.
“These guys gotta calm down. It’s ridiculous,” the president said.
“I didn’t like plenty of things that I saw yesterday. I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal ... and I didn’t like the fact that the retaliation was very strong.”

Trump added, “You basically have two countries that have been fighting for so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing. Do you understand that?”

The president emphasized that the ceasefire—if maintained—would end a conflict that risked spiraling into a wider regional war.
“This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will,” Trump wrote.
“God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
